every flower of indian literature

has a wonderful scent

but the fragrance of urdu, mulla,

is something else

why are strangers allowed

in our gathering of joy

yes, our friends are few

i had my friend as a guest

with the gathering all lit up by

the vigor and zeal of wine

flowers bloomed in sight again

and, again, my heart lit up

when i imagined again

going to the joyful gathering

warmth of a compassionate gaze

is the light of the heart
