Interpretation
Shaayar Ghalib seems to find himself in a lively gathering, but his heart stands apart. Others, many strangers among them, lift their cups, say cheers and laugh freely, lost in the warmth of companionship.
He remains, however, thirsty — not for wine, but for a word of his beloved, waiting in anticipation of her arrival.
Amid frolic and revelry, he dwells in quiet anticipation, waiting for a word, a glimpse that, perhaps, may never arrive.
