1 Urdu couplets and shers with baavajud

baavajud(m): despite

Description of baavajud: Baavajud is an Urdu conjunction of Persian-Arabic origin meaning "despite," "although," or "in spite of," used to introduce a fact that contrasts with the main clause. Unlike "lekin" , which connects two opposing ideas sequentially, baavajud emphasizes persistence amid opposition. Differs from "agarche" , as it more forcefully conveys defiance against circumstances. In poetry, Nasir Kazmi employs it evocatively: "ai dost humne tark-e-mohabbat ke baavajud / mahs?s k? hai ter?
